This notice explains how Cape Cresties Auctions handles your personal information under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA).

What we collect

Your name, email address, mobile number and an encrypted password hash when you register, and a record of every bid you place with the time it was placed.

Why we collect it

To verify your account, run the auction fairly, keep an audit trail of bids, and put you in touch with the seller if you win. We do not sell your information or use it for marketing.

Who sees it

Your name and bid amounts are public on the auction page. Your email and mobile number are visible only to the site administrators, and are shared with the seller if you win. Bids, including your name, email and mobile number, are also recorded in a private Google Sheet used by the administrators as an audit log. Our hosting, email and image-storage providers process data on our behalf.

Your rights

You may ask us to show you, correct or delete your information, subject to our need to keep auction records. Contact the administrators using the email address in your auction emails.
